John K. B. Afshar, MD, Neurosurgeon
Dr. Afshar has been trained extensively in complex brain and spinal disorders and has received national recognition for his research on strokes and neurosurgery. He specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques of the spine and brain.
Dr. Afshar received his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC, where he also performed his internship, general surgery and neurosurgical residencies. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and also received a spinal fellowship from University of South Florida College of Medicine.
John R. Robinson, Jr., MD, Neurosurgeon
Dr. Robinson serves as the director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Martin Memorial. Dr. Robinson specializes in computer-guided, minimally invasive microsurgical treatments for the spine and brain.
Dr. Robinson received his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University before attending graduate school at the University of Florida. He graduated with honors in surgery from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency in neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. He underwent fellowship training in trauma and spinal surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., and in cerebrovascular/skull-base surgery at The Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
John J. Viola, MD, Neurosurgeon
Dr. Viola specializes in the treatment of brain tumors, spinal tumors, persistent back pain, fractures, degenerative disc disease, herniated disc or disc(s), scoliosis, kyphosis and spine deformity, spinal stenosis, and carpal tunnel syndrome, with a focus on minimally invasive spine procedures/fusions.
Before joining the Center for Cranial and Spinal Surgery, Dr. Viola was on staff at Front Range Center for Brain and Spine Surgery, P.C. in Fort Collins, Colo. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pa. and his internship and neurosurgical residency at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
