Spring training skin cancer screening available
Before they sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” this spring training season, baseball fans can take advantage of a free skin cancer screening.
Spring Swing—Moffitt’s Sun Safety Tour—is a partnership between Moffitt Cancer Center, the Tampa Bay Rays and Moffitt affiliates such as Martin Memorial. The tour, which began March 1, travels through eight cities and is designed to locate early signs of skin cancer while promoting sun safety and skin cancer awareness.
The Tour will swing through Jupiter on March 22, when the Cardinals play the Minnesota Twins. Screenings will be performed by dermatologists and staff from Martin Memorial and Moffitt Cancer Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. No reservations are required.

Simulated patient helps train nurses Martin Memorial recently purchased a highly sophisticated patient simulator to help train nurses entering critical care areas – such as intensive care, emergency department and surgical areas – as well as nurses new to the hospital. The simulator is called iStan by manufacturer Medical Education Technologies, Inc. Martin Memorial purchased the simulator with the help of Peter and Gayle Grimm, Harbour Ridge residents who provided a gift to the Martin Memorial Foundation.
