Accreditation by The Joint Commission
(Previously known as the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations)
Martin Memorial ranks among the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide, as scored by The Joint Commission, one of the most respected healthcare accreditations in the U.S. Every three years, The Joint Commission reviews numerous aspects of care, from governance and bylaws to staff competency. Martin Memorial was once again awarded with accreditation during The Joint Commission's most recent review in 2007.
Primary Stroke Center
In November of 2007, Martin Memorial was named a primary stroke center by The Joint Commission, a recognition of excellence in stroke care. The Joint Commission certifies hospitals that meet national standards and performance measurement expectations. The commission's certification program was developed along with the American Stroke Association.
Cancer Center Three-Year Approval
Approval with commendation was earned from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, 2007. Approval and highest rating was also earned in 2003.
Top 20 Large Community Hospital
Martin Memorial has been named a four-time winner of the national Top 20 Large Community Hospitals recognition by Solucient in conjunction with the 100 Top Hospitals survey.
